To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Miko. I am an animator and a doctoral researcher at Bournemouth University. My research topic is critical computer animation focusing on animation practices (personal and studio), animator's mind sets and cognitive processes, and finally emotional character animation, design approach and quality.
I have been working 8 years as an animator in Film&TV production and game development. My last position as the animation lead with Triumph Studios, provided me with the opportunity and freedom to develop a PRG title and experiment new ideas on game interaction and animation. Before that project, I involved in a UK Film council short film - Elroy III, animating the lead role - Daniella, which was shown in Cannes in May 2007. Because of those diverse experience, I always questioned animation research and development and how animators handle emotional aspects in animation, leading to my decision to do a PhD.
In the beginning of my career, I was one of the animators in-charged of 15 episodes of Tiny Planet - a full 3D animated series being broadcast in different countries. Later, I spend some time developing in-game animations for a XBox RPG - Sudeki. Because of my experience in traditional hand-drawn animation and TV production, I soon found myself in charge of the FMA sequences for Sudeki. I oversaw all aspects of the production from reviewing scripts to storyboarding, animatic to cinematic, then animation and rendering. I produced over 40 mins animation sequences. Later, I moved to the Netherlands and worked in Guerilla BV animation team developing their Killzone title.
Apart from my normal duties as an animator, I also helped to train others in the team. Delivering my experience to junior animators and applying my knowledge from animation production to game are especially rewarding. I gave talks in conferences such as Animex - International Festival of Animation and the National Centre of Computer Animation focusing on animation techniques and cinematic animation.
In my previous career as a design engineer for 7 years, I have experience in large scale engineering project management and contract estimation. I continued working in teams of multi-disciplines to design interactive graphic simulation, system control and programming.
Personally, I am always interested in mixed media SFX animation - 2D & 3D compositing work and interactive media. I studied, in particular, camera work and perspective matching for cinematic production. In my leisure, I write science fiction and fantasy story. I enjoy character design and paint anime illustrations.
I would like to further myself in animation production, directing and management. I believe with my diverse skills, I would not only play a good part in the team but also leading a team, aiming to create higher quality of work and improving techniques for the future.
